Home, briefly
Hi subscribers!
This one's just a quick check in. I have lots of news to come - including a new release date - but that's a holding pattern right now while I tie off a few loose ends.
I started this month with Ages of Pages - the yearly book fair in Kirikiriroa Hamilton. It was much bigger than last year, and that came with some adjustment, but it was great to meet people. Spellcasting On accounted for most of my sales - which is exciting - especially as I hope to be returning with the sequel next year. Lots of people were asking about standalones - and while Sanctuary is a standalone, it's my Andi R Christopher books that are central at these events. Well, it's early days, and finishing off series is my priority, but there's something in the works there too.

This year I made the excellent decision of having my books shipped in advance. I travelled by bus both ways this time, with a stop in Taupō by the lake (picture above) on the way.
I've made this journey dozens of times, and somehow it never gets old; settling back for the journey out of Wellington, edging the harbour at Porirua with wading birds stalking through the mud, a stop for a toastie and to say hello to the llamas at Flat Hills, up through the brown scrub grass along the desert road, and past the mountains up towards Lake Taupō.
I know long distance buses are many people's idea of hell - and I'd prefer a functional rail system - but I am blessed with the ability to read on buses and have good headphones, so even though the journey can be long I make good use of it.
Still, it's always nice to finally get home!
This time, though, I haven't been back long and now I'm heading away again - one more trip before the winter sets in. I'm going to a couple of events, more about those when I return.
