3 weeks in
I'm about to start Week 4 of my Toi Pōneke residency. It's been intense - I've been catching an early morning train, and often getting home late. Yesterday (a day off) I fell asleep during the day twice.
It's also been really good for both my writing and myself. I haven't been this focused on a single project in a long time. It's been making me rethink a lot about my writing process, my schedule, and how I structure my life and work.
I'm probably close to a third of the way through the book. The first part has been sent to my mentor for feedback. I know it's going to need a lot of work to turn it from a draft into a publishable manuscript, but I love how my characters are developing, and the world I'm building.
I remain very, very tired!
This is also the time of year when Fringe, Pride, and the Arts Festival all bleed into one - I often completely lose track of which event is part of which. But I resolved to make the most of being in the city centre for a while, so I've been getting myself to a few activities and events. Last week I took a bundle dying class - dyeing with flowers and other natural dyes - a good break from the screen, messing around with colours and fabric.

Wishing you all the sleep you need!
